*If you are new to this blog and insist on starting from the top…I highly recommend ignoring mostly everything prior to the post called “Resolutions for 2013″*

I am a brown woman in Toronto. After many years of running this blog, I have come to the conclusion that there is no way to say “I write poetry” without it sounding incredibly pretentious. This blog has poems and prose and essays of questionable quality. Thanks for reading.

I just wanted to tell you, thank you for writing that article on brown women telling us to admire ourselves.I really needed that. My heart didnt stop soaring when I finished reading your article.I felt like crying too.I am not good at English, sorry for this incoherent comment. But,I really admire you. This article gave me courage at a time when I didnt believe in myself.I know it sounds silly, but trust me when I say that, your article is life turning for me.I pinned it on my desktop.I just can’t find the words to thank you properly. Its become repetitive at this point. But once again,THANK YOU.I LOVE U for writing this article

I am so glad that my words had a positive impact on you! Your English is just fine; if you speak other languages, you are already more linguistically competent than most English speakers (who speak just one language). 🙂

Believe that you deserve to admire yourself – and know that anyone who tells you not to likely doesn’t know how to do this for themselves. 💕💕
